Some Things Never Change

Like how my favorite movie is 10 Things I Hate About You

And how something funny can make my day so much better.
Me Jessica- Is the reaction time supposed to be longer than the reflex time?
T.A. Lauren- Is there  a question about that?
J- Yes, but I already answered it, and I promise I won’t change my answer.
L- I believe you. Yeah, it’s supposed to be longer.
J- My reaction time is faster than Josh’s reflex time.
L- Well maybe you’re awesome and Josh has a Spinal Degenerative Disease.

And how I’m addicted to Starbucks coffee

And lastly, how I can’t sit still while listening to rap music.

Christianity in the Classroom

Oh hey, I do still have a blog.

As I was walking back to West Campus Garage from the Med Sci Library, I saw this old man walking across the parking lot. He reminded me of my population genetics professor. He was the professor who made fun of creationists. That’s one of the only two things I remember about him.

The other thing is when he told us the only time he got a B in a class was the semester that he met his wife. Now, while I can imagine a genetics professor to not be a Christian, I have a hard time imagining a sweet old lady who isn’t a Christian.

Am I weird for that?

Songs That Get Stuck in My Head

Pretty Girl Rock by Keri Hilson. I absolutely love this song. And I could sing it to you word for word. It’s sassy. I love her self-confidence. I’m also a huge fan of the line “you can stare but if you touch it I’ma bury”. Now do the pretty girl rock.

Baby by Justin Bieber. Yeah, I’m sorry. It’s great though. I don’t care if he’s 12. That boy can sing. And I was like baby, baby, baby ohhh.

What the Hell by Avril Lavigne. I’ve been a fan of Avril since the Complicated days. This is kinda raunchy for me normally, but still, I love that she’s not letting some stupid boy control her. And I’m kinda jealous of her super-straight hair. All my life I’ve been good but now I’m thinking what the hell.

and last but not least:

Colder Weather by Zac Brown Band. I think I love every single song by them. I just got their new album. Martin is by far my favorite. Second is Whiskey’s Gone. Wonderful cd. This song is just really sad. And I’m not entirely sure what’s going on or how things end. Input anyone?

Happy Friday!

Spring Break

  1. Tomorrow I was planning on going home for Spring Break. Then I realized that I have to work from 5:30 till 8 and that idea was quickly aborted. I hate driving at night.
  2. I get to go see the Zac Brown band! I’m soooo excited. I also get to see my Nanny and my parents and my Woo. Yes, Woo, I just claimed you as my own.
  3. I’m about to be computerless. As of tomorrow, Scott will have his computer back and I will still have a broken one that won’t get past the Vaio screen. I’m thinking it’s time for a new computer. Any suggestions?
  4. I had my Anatomy lab practical today and I have an Ecology exam tomorrow. I need to do really well on both of them.
  5. I can’t stop listening to Avril Lavigne’s “What the Hell”. Unfortunately it goes into “When You’re Gone” which reminds me of an ex boyfriend. *Shudder*
  6. I need to go study.

Happy Wednesday!

ToT and What am I supposed to do with that?

There’s this guy who I work with who I call Shay. His real name is Michael Chase, but Shay drives him crazy. Anyways, yesterday he told me that he thinks I like him. What am I supposed to do with that?

1. How did your parents decide on your name?
Well, my dad’s name is Jesse and my great-grandmother’s name was Sarah Jessie, so I guess that’s how.
2. Do your initials (First, Middle, Last) spell out anything fun/funny?
My initials are JDH, so no, not at all.
3. Did you take your middle name from childhood or did you take your maiden name as your middle name? (If unmarried, what do you plan to do?)
I’m not married yet, but I plan on keeping my middle name. I like it a lot.
4. Are you or will you name your children thematically (ie. same first letter, all of same origin…)
Definitely not. Unless I marry someone with a J name. Then maybe.
5. Did you decide on baby names as a little girl? Did you stick to them or change your mind?
I’ve thought up a lot of names, but I may or may not change my mind depending on who I marry.
6. Does your family have any names that have been passed down through generations?
Yup, my name.
7. Do you look at the meaning of the name or just the name itself?
I like looking at the meanings of the names, but if I like the name and not the meaning, I’ll probably still keep the name.
8. Do you name pets with human names (Sally, Henry) or with pet names (Fluffy, Mr. Bo Bo)?
My only pet has been Frank, and if I get another dog, I want a black lab named Joey. I guess that means I use human names.
9. Are there any names that you have an affinity or dislike for based on a childhood experience/someone you once knew?
I’m not a huge fan of names that are the same names of ex boyfriends for obvious reasons.
10. What are some of your favorite names? Why?
I like the name Madeline and Alba for girls. For boys I like William and Lucas.

This Weekend

This weekend was mildly ridiculous. Thursday night I got 11 hours of sleep, which was awesome. Unfortunately, the sleeping ended there.

I saw Stoney Larue Friday night with Nigel, Hannah, and Linda. It was awesome. I was waiting for him to play Oklahoma Breakdown all night because for obvious reasons it’s my favorite. When he finally did, he made the mistake of introducing his bass player, because his bass player started playing the Aggie War Hymn and of course that didn’t go unnoticed in a Texas Hall of Fame full of Aggies. So we ended up two-stepping to the Aggie War Hymn. It was pretty sweet.

That night I only got about 5.5 hours of sleep because the bioethics conference was Saturday. I had to be there at 7:30 so I woke up at 6:30 so I would shower and not be all smoke-infested from the Hall. Now, I love the Hall, but I hate that they let people smoke in there. Anyways, so the conference was interesting and I had a LOT of caffeine to get me through the day. I picked up the pizza like I do every year, and after almost falling asleep on the way to drop off the warmers, I decided that I should probably head home.

At 3 I went to play Ultimate Frisbee with some friends, and then we went to the Dixie Chicken for dinner. At the Chicken, a cowboy tipped his hat at me and said “howdy ma’am”. It completely made my day. I’m pretty sure I squealed when it happened. Then we went to Nigel’s to play 42. Linda and I won. After that we played Bull Shit and some game with quarters and hung out with people that were… under the influence. That included Mac and Cheese and a role reversal between big and little brother that was pleasantly surprising. I ended up staying over there until 2.

Sunday morning I woke up in time for Sunday school (by some miracle), and I took a 3 hour nap after church. I then worked till 11.

Fortunately I got a lot more sleep because I don’t have class on Mondays. Thank goodness.

Happy Monday!
